Art In A Time Of Crisis

This idea was spontaneous and in response to the unprecedented global pandemic keeping some of us in isolation, causing fear, and uncertainty.

Like you, the producing staff has lost money from cancelled events and we are trying to find a way to channel this energy into something. Anything. Art can be cathartic. It can be healing. It can feel productive.

This is not a perfect solution. But it's a solution to making lemonade out of some pretty sour lemons.

This idea is organic. You're shaping it with your questions and excitement and desire to be involved. And we love hearing from you. Also know that we're a small team and working as quickly as possible.

Our Mission Statement

Sequined and Sequestered: A Digital Burlesque Fest is, first and foremost, a fun and silly distraction from our current situation. We are excited about seeing how creative and innovative our community is in taking lemons and turning them into lemonade.

Our hope is that during this time of uncertainty for so many of us that we can come together digitally for a celebration of the creative spirit that drives all of us.

FAQ

Here are some of our Frequently Asked Questions

  • When is the festival?

What a great question! And honestly we don't know. Will we get 100 submissions or 1,000? We're a team of 6 and will work to the best of our abilities to get this up and running. We have committed ourselves to giving an update by Sunday, April 19, 2020 on where we are in the process!

  • I reached out to a band and got explicit permission from them to use one of their songs. Can I use it?

If you have explicit documentation from the band (or whoever owns the rights to the music) that you can use a song, i.e. in writing you have yes, you can use (name of song) for commercial use (or like wording) you can use the song.

  • Where Can I Find Royalty Free Music?

We suggest starting with google and doing a couple of web searches. You may only find clips. You may have to piece something together.

We found this, hopefully it helps: https://freemusicarchive.org/

  • Do submissions need to be 1 long continuous take, or can the submission be heavily edited like a little art film?

Either. We'll accept heavily edited or 1 long continuous take

  • Group Submission Rules

Group submissions cannot exceed three people.

Working with the theme of isolation, a group of no more than 3 people may submit 1 group submission. The group must find a way to work together without being in the same room. So if you live in the same space, you'll need to consider how you can collaborate to work together in separate areas. This can also be done with 3 or less people living in different places.

*You may submit 1 group submission and 1 solo submission

*Once you appear in a group submission you may not appear in any other group submission. If you're in more than 1 group submission any group submission submitted after the first will be forfeit even if the other participants are different than the 1st group submission.

  • What does fiscal sponsorship mean?

Fiscal sponsorship refers to the practice of non-profit organizations offering their legal and tax-exempt status to groups—typically projects—engaged in activities related to the sponsoring organization's mission
